Department of Botany

Department of Botany is one of the basic departments in the Faculty of Science of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University established in 2009. The vision of the department is to be a main center in providing academic leadership, quality training, research and technological development in botanical sciences.
The area is famous for its floristic composition. It has also access to Kumrat and Swat to exploit plants for experimental purposes especially the medicinal plants for the welfare of the local community of the area in particular and the country in general.
Botany is a recent and dynamic science covering several disciplines from molecular biology, Pharmacy, Forestry, Chemistry and biotechnology to ecology and conservation. It involves the study of plants and related organisms like fungi and algae. The knowledge of these organisms contributes greatly to our understanding of both natural ecosystems and agriculture. Plants impact many aspects of our daily life such as providing food, medicines, paper, building materials, recreation and tourism.
Seeing the scope of the subject for the purposes, the University has established the Department of Botany, we offer modern curriculum, and undergraduate's degree in botany and planning for graduate degree in M.Phil and Doctoral Levels with research ranging from Morph-metric to Molecular studies.
Our goal is to provide well trained and motivated manpower both at academic and technical levels coupled with modern research laboratories and facilities. Botany Department green houses one of the finest and well stocked herbarium in the University for students.

The Botany Graduates can be employed in various organizations like;
